Name

Quick question, what's up with Malay parents these days naming their kids Isaac and Julian and Adrien? Sebab trend ke sebab malu nak namakan dengan nama melayu/Islam?

My name has Persian roots; it is not a "Malay" name at all. In fact, most "Malay" names have an Arab root. So aku rasa malu tu bukan alasan. Ikut trend is probably a more valid reason.

Yam: pergh ade lagi Barchiel kau

Zaaba: yeah we tend to look to the middle east for our naming conventions, probably owing to the early malay muslims who were either named by or inspired by the arabs who came to malacca to trade. malay names are rarely found these days, i knew a mawar and heard of jati, bayu and bahagia and it is perfectly fine.

anon: whoa, christina? such a christian name for a muslim child? tsk, pity.

Tentang nama christina tu jgn silap. Kadang2 namanya QISTINA...mmg ada dalam Quran. Nama Julian apa salahnya? Yg perempuan Juliana..ertinya muda. Tak semestinya kita kena namakan anak dgn nama MELAYU. There is no such thing as nama Islam. Ada pun nama Arab. Kalau maksud nama itu bagus..contoh Intan. Apa salahnya? Yg penting nama tu bagus. Bukan nama semestinya ARAB. Habis yang Wan wan..nik nik. (org kelantan/ganu)..Tuan tuan..meor meor... ..itu islam ke? Jgn lan tertutup sgt brother.
